CONWAY OFFICER EARNS TOP HONORS AT RECRUIT ACADEMY
Newly certified Conway Police Officer Jaymes Lapoint received academic honors upon his graduation from the New Hampshire Police Academy in Concord, NH on Friday April 10, 2009. Officer Lapoint, a 2008 graduate of UNH, majoring in justice studies, bested 55 other recruits from across NH during the 14-week residential training course.
The program, which is run in a Para-military environment, certifies police candidates to serve as fully sworn officers in New Hampshire. The intensive curriculum includes training in physical fitness, hand-to-hand combat, pursuit driving, and domestic violence response, as well as a full battery of legal studies.
Officer Lapoint was awarded the prestigious "High Academic Achievement " award for maintaining a high aggregate GPA for the entire 14-week program. Over 600 people, to include guest speakers Governor John Lynch and US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, attended the graduation and awards ceremony.
Formerly of Somersworth, NH, Officer Jaymes Lapoint joined the force in 2008 and now resides in the Mount Washington Valley.
